How It Works

I don’t work in a studio. I am a location photographer. This means I will come to your home or we can discuss an outside location to meet up at for your session.

Home:

This is the perfect place for environmental portraits.  These are done in your home and capture a personal space like a bedroom, a playroom, living room or can be done on  the front porch.  This creates a more intimate feel to your photograph and helps becomes a documentation of not only what you looked like but where you lived.

Outside Location:

Shooting outdoors is also an option when weather permits.  We could be in your back yard, your favorite park, a field, or in an urban setting like the city. Interesting and colorful backgrounds are all over the place when you venture outdoors.

If you are stuck on trying to figure out just the right place, I have a few I can suggest as well.

I work on an open time frame.  This means I will not be rushing through your session. I find it is important to take breaks and to spend time talking and when little ones are involved … playing. I want you and/or your children feel relaxed and look natural.  A session could last any where from 1.5 to 2 hours.  I will keep shooting as long as my subject is having fun and still willing!

I  like to move around the chosen location.  Moving around and trying a variety of settings with-in a location will help give you more choices and visual variety when it comes time to order your prints. It also helps keep the photos looking fresh and not forced.

Most of all I want you to have fun,  I think the best pictures capture you living your life and show how you interact with each other.
