How to Dress
Overall I think it is best to keep things simple but whatever you choose, please be true to your own style. I want your portraits to reflect who you really are.
For a timeless look, solid colors in subtle tones work well.
For a hip, trendy look choose brighter, bolder colors and patterns.
Think about where you would like to display this artwork. Try and dress in colors that will accent this space. I think colors can add so much personality to photographs.
I would prefer it if you could keep any white you are wearing to a minimum. It reflects light strongly and can leave you looking washed out.
Accessories can be fun additions to your session. Hats, belts, sunglasses, shades, scarves, ties, jewelry, toys, lovies etc are all great.
Bare feet also add a intimate feel to your portraits. If you are wearing shoes, make sure they are in good condition and not dirty or scuffed.
Choosing outfits for a family session can mean a bit more planning. Everyone does not have to be dressed in ‘uniform’ or even need to wear the same color, in fact I discourage it. Keeping within the same ‘family’ of colors will help bring you together. Try looking for all pastels, bright, cool or warm colors that compliment each other.
If you are unsure, take a look at parenting magazines or websites for ideas. You can always give me a call if you are stuck. I can help you out over the phone as well as suggesting you bring several outfits to your session where I can help you choose.
