Back to School– 1st and 3rd Grade

Oh my I have kids…not babies, not toddlers, not preschoolers but KIDS.

Big lunch packing, bus riding, homework doing, all day school kids.

Our New Puppy–

This is our new baby.  She is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and a red head!  We spent the day in Fort Collins yesterday picking her out.  She is sweet, quiet, cuddly and beautiful!

We are so excited and can’t wait to go pick her up as soon as she is ready to leave her mama.

The naming process has began. C likes Blaze, but she seems too laid back to fit that right now.  Hubby likes Willlow, his favorite redhead from the show Buffy.  Beauty likes Scarlett.  I  think Willow might fit for her, but we will see after she spends a few days here.

Some how in the excitement we missed pictures of Hubby, although there is a rare picture with me in it :)

Notice Beauty’s front tooth hanging there?  It’s driving us crazy but she wont let us touch it….

Here are the pictures the sweet breeder took.  She and her husband were so kind and patient with the kids.

Kindergarten Graduation

Beauty had her Kindergarten Graduation.  It was cute to see all of her friends and classmates singing “I’m going to be a part of it, First Grade.. First Grade” to the tune of New York New York.

It was followed up by an ice cream social where the kids had their choice of  a crazy amount of toppings.  Beauty signed us up for crushed oreos and could not figure out why I was buying a package of regular oreos at the store.  She was amazed that I could make them into crushed oreos on my own.

Voodoo 1995-2011

I am crying as I type.  My tears falling on the keys.

This week we have said goodbye to part of our family.

We got her from a trailer park when she was a puppy and my hubby and I were in college.  I was 19 and picked her out of a refrigerator box full of 11 puppies. She was the most outgoing in the bunch and a pure black fluffy fur ball. My hubby named her after a beer –Blackened Voodoo.  Funny name for a girl people always thought, but she was a funny dog.

She lived in the chaos of a fraternity house and at 50 pounds climbed on the back of the sofa in the front room where she sat perched like a overgrown cat. She would follow me into my sorority house and up into my room with all the girls.

Voodoo loved to swim and fetch sticks from lakes. The three of us rode packed in together on the bench seat of my hubby’s old pick up. Her paws and head resting on my lap.

She moved with us into our parents houses after school, our first apartment together, our townhouse we lived in when we got married and finally to our home now.

Voodoo watched over our kids when they came home from the hospital sleeping at the foot of their crib or cradle like a nanny.  She let C ride her and learn how to stand by holding on to her.  She let  Beauty dress her in necklaces and put bows and clips in her fur.  While she was still able to make it up the stairs she slept in C’s room and we often found him huddled up on the floor with her instead of in his own bed.

My heart is aching..I miss her and hate to have had to let her go.  She made it 16 years, my first child and my friend.

Business Portraits–Jmross Colorado Headshot Photographer

The last couple of Fridays I have been busy shooting business portraits and headshots for a large construction company.  They are adding their peoples headshots to the resumes that they send out to potential clients.  A faces behind your team kind of thing.  I think it is a great idea and I have had so much fun getting these camera shy, tough guys in front of my lens.

Below is one of my favorites taken of the head of the company in his office.

Beauty- pink on pink

After seeing the picture of herself and her dad on the gray, Beauty wanted  to pose on something a little more her style.  She had fun sitting on the stool and playing model. Safe to say her pink phase is not over!

Hubby Models

Messing around with a new color backdrop.  I’m lucky my Hubby is always a handsome and willing subject.

And Daddy’s girl hops in!

Introducing my sister-inlaw’s new baby… Adidas is sister to Nike :) She is a Maltese and Shih-Tzu mix.

The kids have had a great time playing with her and she is as sweet as can be. When you go to touch her she melts into a flat little rug looking up at you with a ragdoll like face of nose and fur.

Her eyes blend right into her black fur and she looks like a sweet caricature of a puppy you’d see in cartoons.

“C” was not feeling the pink backdrop!
