Messing around with a new color backdrop. I’m lucky my Hubby is always a handsome and willing subject.
And Daddy’s girl hops in!
hello there-
I am Jessica Ross, a portrait photographer working in Denver, Colorado.
Through my photography I try to find the joy and honesty in everyday events, capture emotions, document relationships and showcase personality.
On this blogsite I will share recent client work, my thoughts, and my family.
As the saying goes...art comes from your heart. All of these things are what make up mine. It only makes sense for them to be all in one place, thus the blogsite was born.

Introducing my sister-inlaw’s new baby… Adidas is sister to Nike
She is a Maltese and Shih-Tzu mix.
The kids have had a great time playing with her and she is as sweet as can be. When you go to touch her she melts into a flat little rug looking up at you with a ragdoll like face of nose and fur.
Her eyes blend right into her black fur and she looks like a sweet caricature of a puppy you’d see in cartoons.

“C” was not feeling the pink backdrop!
The hubby and I took the kids on a little field trip. We took the Light Rail down town, grabbed some dinner and sat in the “nosebleed section” at an Avs game.
Beggars can’t be choosers… Hubby got the tickets free from a friend. The seats worked out great though. Beauty still has an all consuming fear of mascots and flipped out until she realized the mascot doesn’t come up that far.
The kiddos got souvenirs.. C got a new hat for his collection.. Beauty picked the only pink thing she could find in the shop. They gorged on dippin dots (think space ice-cream) and a bucket of cotton candy. I even splurged on some delicious hot mini doughnuts served from a cart. The train ride home was quiet despite the disgusting amount of sugar consumed.
We had a great time on our little adventure and proved that a stay-cation for spring break can still be full of new experiences!

Look at those droopy little eyes–we are so not morning people. We get up early but are not functional till after 8:30am …
This photo was taken before school on the morning of C’s big Betsy Ross presentation. They all had to choose a famous American to research and do a speech about. C choose Betsy Ross because well…she must be his great great great great grandmother of course.. after-all we have the same last name. It made him really excited to do the research so I went along with his assumption. He had to bring a prop for his presentation and I suggested that I could help him sew his own flag, but like most boys and men it was only a good prop if it included food
C mixed the cake batter himself (spice cake, his pick) I baked it and he rolled out and cut the fondant himself. I did the assembly (icing the cake with cream cheese frosting then applying the fondant).
There were lots of oohs and aahs from his classmates and C had a big proud grin on his face..totally worth it!
Oh yeah his speech was great too. I was very proud of him. The video is hard to hear. All the kids were were stationed around the room and the parents rotated from student to student. All those speeches going on at once made for tough video recording, but the bit at the beginning where he reveals his cake needs no audio …the look on his face was amazing!

The Albers are awaiting a big surprise…..they do not know the sex and they are not telling anyone their top name contenders. They are going full surprise mode on family and friends
They were both so much fun to work with and boy could they make each other laugh. Brandon could not keep a straight face and had some of the most fun expressions I have caught on a grown up…he is a man after my own heart. (Anyone who knows my hubby knows I have a soft spot for men who don’t take themselves too seriously)
You can see the strong relationship they have formed over the years and it shows in their pictures. They both looked great and I hope they will treasure these last portraits of their family of 2.
Ms. J was kind enough to come and model for some maternity shots….possible wall art her obstetrician’s office.
She was as sweet as can be and very pregnant. I turned up the heat hoping to make her comfortable. How soon we forget right, pregnant ladies are already warm. I ended up having to open a window. She was a trooper and after a little water and some cool air I snapped away.
This is her 3rd baby and man does she look great. She even brought her two little ones back by for a couple of quick pics with her belly.

Her oldest wanted his own portrait…he sat right down and said “here take my picture”
We recently went up to visit some of our best friends.
Usually we make a play-date during the week when the kids are off and the “guys” are at work. My dear friend and I usually sit and try to talk over all the chaos and noise that happens when you get 5 kids who have known each other since before birth together.
This time we made a family play-date with our hubby’s included (which works out great because they were friends before she and I) We took the kids bowling and had a lot of fun…I had no idea that my best buddy was such a great bowler…
She and I are actually in some of the pics this time!
