My Kids in the City

Okay so it wasn’t just my husband I asked to pose for portraits in the alley way!

Don’t you love the strand of hair in her face, even with a clip she always has a stray…It makes the portrait even more her!

My Handsome Hubby in the City

When your wife is a photographer,  it is not unusual to get pulled in to an alley way and asked to pose for a portrait.  Good thing I married a man who is not in the least bit camera shy!

One Cake Pan Rainbow Cake

Here is my version of my friend’s rainbow cake.  She made each layer a different color by adding food coloring to white cake batter, like 5 glorious layers in all.  I took the same idea and instead of baking separate cake layers in each color (I don’t have enough cake pans… or the patience to wait for them, then clean them and reuse)  I simply took 1 cup of each colored batter and added them in to the center of the pan.  Each addition caused the previous cup of batter to spread out.  I made two layers and used rainbow chip frosting to top it off.  My kids loved it and asked for me to make them “rainbow cakes” for their birthdays. Thanks for the idea MGF!

Also…….. I used  neon liquid food coloring by McCormick . They turned out to be crazy bright even after baking and I bought them at my neighborhood grocery store. No extra trip to the craft store for special gel dye BONUS! (ps.  I know food dye is not the healthiest thing for the kids, but neither is cake right! It is meant to be a special sometimes treat)

Sidewalk Chalk

This weekend we took a trip downtown to a sidewalk chalk festival.  It was nothing short of amazing to see what these artists could do with chalk/pastels!  It’s a must see with 250 artists coming to town each year to take part in this fleeting display of art.  We will go back next year for sure.

Self Portrait

profile_pic-2Thought I needed a new picture for facebook. So much easier to take pictures of others, I always think they look great.  It’s hard to look at at yourself in great detail!

Rainbow Cookies

Inspired by my best friend’s rainbow cake, I made these cookies for my son’s end of the year carnival tomorrow.  I am vowing however,  to make the cake too just as soon as I remember to pick up white cake mix at the store.  I also couldn’t resist including some pictures of my little beauty enjoying some samples.

Bing

Yesterday I blogged about my love affair with summer cherries.  I thought it only fair to include my buddy the Bing Energy Drink , as it is what has got me through the winter months.  It’s an energy drink made here in Colorado and is made with Bing cherries.  I drink one every morning,  it’s become my version of morning coffee!

Summer Cherries

Summer time brings all my favorite fruits back to our local grocery store.  Of all the summer arrivals,  the bing cherries have to be my favorite.  My daughter seems to have a taste for them too.  That’s okay  with me, I like having someone to share them with.  They are so good for you and just the perfect summer treat.
