Birthday

January 30th, 2009

birthday2009

Today is my birthday. I looked through some old pictures and found this one. Are you old enough to recognize the theme? It’s Holly Hobby!  I loved that cake. You know the kind. The one where there is a Barbie in the middle and the dress is the cake. It was by far my most favorite cake I ever had!

Do you love my hair by the way, my mom thought this was a great look! Love you mom, but the hair was not great :)

Sleeping Beauty

Beauty has decided that bedtime is now optional. Lately every night we have gone through the ritual …..brushing teeth, reading books, and cuddles…… to only moments later to see her downstairs again with a sweet little grin looking like a little angel with her soft pj’s on.

My husband can’t resist this daddy’s girl. She climbs up on his lap and quietly falls asleep in his arms, after all she is tired. She is just fighting it.

I know we should stick to our guns and make her go to her room like her big brother, but there is something sort of special about this quiet time between Beauty and her daddy.

Candy Candy Candy

candy

I swear Indy is obsessed with Candy. Candy Candy Candy ….. It’s all he asks for when we go to any kind of store. We tried banning it, I think the whining got worse.

He is an active little boy who can afford the calories and we do eat very healthy around here…most of the time anyway. But I it scares me the way he becomes crazed about it sometimes. Like nothing will keep him from it! Maybe he will grow up and be a candy maker, that way I can feel like by giving in I at least contributed to something!

Voodoo

voodoo

This is our old mutt Voodoo, yes my husband named her. We got her in college for free from some woman in a trailer park giving away puppies She is 14 years old this month and the best dog our family could ask for.

At this point in her life’s journey she doesn’t require much. She is pretty low maintenance. She just needs her bowls to be full, a dog door and some scraps the kids cast off their plates “on accident”.

She was 7 when we brought our first baby home and we weren’t sure she was going to be able to adjust, but being the smart dog she is she realized she had better get with the program and accept them in to the pack if she was to stay herself.

Since that day I have called her Nanny Voodoo, as she watches over them. She is patient with the love tugs and hugs she gets. My little Beauty dresses her up and often sits on the floor with her and likes to act as her pillow. My son Indy can’t think of going to bed without her curled up on the floor of his room (which is getting harder and harder for her as she struggles to climb the stairs)

Feel the Love!

siblinglove

A rare moment of total sibling love! I caught the two of them in this embrace all on their own. I don’t think I have ever moved so quickly to grab my camera. It was a moment to be recorded for sure. These two seem to love and fight with the same intensity, and when I am about to pull my hair out from the arguing, pushing, and pinching I need a pictures like these to remind me of the good times :)

The Anti-Snow Bunny

We took the kids up to the mountains to enjoy some winter sports with some friends.

My little Indy loved it, he is a snowboarder just like his dad. He even tries to jump things on the flat bunny slope.

Beauty, not so much. She complained about the cold, and wanted to head for the lodge.

She did like to ride the magic carpet without ski’s or snowboard. She was lucky the lift operator thought she was cute and let her ride a few dozen times anyway.
